Police in Kabwe are holding on to a 28 year old man for collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public in exchange for jobs in the Zambia Army, ZNS, and the on-going recruitment of teachers and health workers.
Rodgers Kapoma of unmarked house number in Kabwe’s Kasanda mine area is believed to have been using the name of Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe to solicit money from his victims.
Sources close to investigations say before hitting into a wrong client, Kapoma had realized thousands of Kwachas from different job seekers especially young people.
By Press time, on Thursday afternoon, the suspect who is under Police custody was spotted at the Kabwe Central Hospital where authorities have told Power News Network that he was actually booked for an operation by specialist Doctors from the UTH to work over his long standing health condition.
Kabwe Central Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Victor Kusweji confirmed Mr Kapoma’s operation appointment adding that it was made early this year.
And when contacted for a comment, the visibly emotional Central Province PS Milner Mwanakampwe who distanced himself from Mr Kapoma’s actions, also appealed to Law enforcers assigned to this matter to ensure that justice prevails in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s stance on caderism, corruption and the rule of law.
Earlier, UPND Central Province Chairperson Albert Chifita who confirmed that Mr Kapoma was a member of the ruling party under Kabwe Central young wing, however distanced the party from the suspect’ action while calling for law enforcers to ensure that the interest of the public and the directive by the Head of State are upheld.
